GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

As an integral phase of any construction project, a geotechnical investigation must be conducted to evaluate the proposed site conditions as they relate to the proposed design and development requirements.  Our geotechnical investigations typically consist of review of the civil plans and structural considerations after which a site investigation plan is developed and implemented to evaluate the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions under the direct supervision of our soils engineer.

The soil samples obtained during the site investigation are returned to our in-house laboratory where they are subjected to refined classification and laboratory testing.  Upon review and analysis of the field and laboratory test results, a geotechnical engineering report is prepared which presents a summary of the data collected in conjunction with site specific recommendations as they relate to foundation type(s), soil bearing capacities, site development and specific recommendations which may be unique to a particular project.

Whitney & Associates owns and maintains a fleet of truck and all-terrain mounted drill rigs, which may be matched to particular site conditions.  In addition, we can provide skid-steer mounted GeoProbe or specialized, hand operated sampling equipment to perform those limited or difficult access sampling locations.  Heavy earthmoving equipment for clearing and site access can also be provided upon request.

Please contact Douglas R. Whitney or James R. Krusemark for further information regarding your next project.
