ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS

In addition to the Geotechnical Investigations, Whitney & Associates provides investigations and monitoring well installations for various environmental consultants throughout the State of Illinois.  Our firm maintains a fleet of rotary auger drill rigs and many sizes of hollow stem augers for varying scopes of investigations and installations.

We also maintain a full inventory of monitoring well installation supplies for rapid response time.  To provide flexibility in the scope of work, an enclosed cargo trailer is typically utilized for transportation of the monitoring well supplies as well as self-contained, decontamination and clean up equipment.  Our personnel have been trained and recurrently certified on hazardous waste operations and emergency response (Hazwoper) procedures.

A skid-steer mounted, GeoProbe sampling rig compliments our conventional, rotary auger drill rig equipment for minimal disturbance sampling.  The GeoProbe sampling equipment may also be utilized in those areas of limited height and/or width restrictions as well as difficult access locations.

Our in-house laboratory can also perform physical tests and analysis of the environmental samples including, but not limited to, grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, bulk density and moisture content, pH, soil classification and hydraulic conductivity tests.
